Househelp who fled with her madam’s son in Lagos arrested in Ogun.

A 14 year old househelp, Favour Iwuozor, was on 3rd of January 2022, nabbed by men of the Ogun state police command for abducting her boss’s 2 years old son.

On December 31, 2021, it was reported of how the suspect fled with the victim on December 19. Moses Otojareri, the father of the victim who spoke to LIB revealed that the suspect who was employed in the second week in November, fled with his son.

According to Moses, the suspect attended a church service with his wife and their two children. His wife however received a call from one of her customers and she left the suspect and her children in church, instructing Favour to ensure they all return to her shop after the church service. Favour however fled with their son.

In an update on Tuesday morning, January 4th, spokesperson of the Ogun state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was arrested following a complaint lodged at Sagamu divisional headquarters by one Victoria Nwafor, who reported that she saw a 14 year old girl on the 22nd of December 2021, with a very sick two year old boy in Yaba Lagos.

She went on to reveal that the little girl was begging for alms under the pretense that the small boy is her younger brother and that their parents died in an accident in December 2020.

Out of compassion, the woman took both of them to her house in Sagamu in order to take care of the little boy’s deteriorating health condition.

But immediately the boy fully recovered, the suspect wanted to single-handedly take the boy to Imo state. This aroused the woman’s suspicion, hence her report.

Upon the report, the Dpo Sagamu division, CSP okiki Agunbiade detailed his detectives to go and bring the girl and the little boy.

On interrogation, the girl confessed that she was a maid to the mother of the little boy, and that she left with the boy since on the 19th of December 2021, with the intention of taking the boy to Amraku Umorsu in Isiala/Mberna local government area of Imo state.

Southwest Governors: Police Officer’s Disrespect ToSanwo-Olu An Unacceptable Intrusion

Video Southwest Governors: Police Officer’s Disrespect To
Sanwo-Olu An Unacceptable Intrusion, .say Lagos must deploy Amotekun now.

We are in possession of a video which has gone viral on the social media concerning the disgraceful exchange between a police officer, a CSP, and the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu, the supposed Chief Security Officer of the State, at the Magodo Residential Estate.

The content of the video is very disconcerting, and this is being charitable. The utter disrespect, which underlines the response of the officer to the Governor establishes, beyond doubt, the impracticability of the current system, dubiously christened “Federalism”. An arrangement, which compels the Governor of a State to seek clarifications on security issues in his jurisdiction from totally extraneous bodies or persons, is a sure recipe for anarchy.

We condemn, very strongly, this brazen assault on decency. We call on the IG to explain the justification for this intrusion. This is not acceptable. Any expectations of rapprochement between so called federating units and federal security agencies are becoming forlorn, progressively, due to deliberate acts which mock our very avowal to ethics and professionalism.

We condemn, in very clear terms, the role of the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami SAN in this act of gross moral turpitude.

We, on our part, will continue to interrogate the current system, which treats elected representatives of the people as mere prefects, while appointed office holders ride rough shod over them as Lords of the Manor. If the purported Chief Security Officers of the States of the Federation require clearance from the office of the IG on matters within their areas of jurisdictions, only hypocrites will wonder why the current security crisis deepens and there appears to be no solution in the foreseeable future.

We stand by our brother, the Governor of Lagos State. We advise him to deploy the Regional security outfit in the State to protect the lives and property of the people.

We call on the President and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces to rein in the excesses of certain elements bent on acting in a manner capable of eroding the bond of trust existing between the people and the Federal Government. It is preposterous for political appointees to seek to undermine the very structure of service upon which their appointments rest.

Arakunrin Oluwarotimi O. Akeredolu SAN

Sunday Igboho’s New Year message for 2022 by Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq.,

Let it be abundantly clear that I am not at war with President Buhari, State Governors or anybody in government. What I want the government to do is address the genesis of my agitation for a Yoruba Nation. The genesis is the insecurity in Ibarapaland and other places in the entire Yorubaland where farmers are habitually maimed, hacked to death, kidnapped and raped as if there are no security agents in the country. Everybody deserves to be protected and ought to feel safe in their country regardless of their tribe, religion or political leaning.

At some point, our people became helpless and could no longer go to their farmlands again. Scores of farmers were butchered to death in 2021 and the government pretended that all was okay. No, this must not continue and this was why I rose to stop the menace. I did not speak up to fight government, I spoke up to ensure the protection of my people and land.

In 2022, the government must rise up and put an end to the havoc caused by herdsmen that are criminals and give everyone a sense of belonging – whether foreigners or locals — and stop the attack on my people in Yorubaland.

I am not selfish and this has never been about me. I am more concerned about the helpless citizens who buried their loved ones to aimless killings in 2021 and I pray that the Almighty God through divine intervention stops the killings of innocent people in Nigeria in 2022 and beyond.

In 2022, it would indeed be to my greatest satisfaction to see my people live without fear and with the confidence that their lives matter if no place else then in their own homes, lands and farms. This is my abiding hope for my people, so help me God.

Northern youths tell President Buhari to take Nigeria to Security level where Ex President Jonathan left it.

Members of the Coalition of the Northern Groups (CNG) have asked President Muhammadu Buhari to return Nigeria to the era of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan when the country experienced a minimal level of insecurity.

This group also lamented the alarming rate of killings, kidnappings, and general insecurity across the country and berated Buhari over his handling of insecurity in the country.

Musa said, “What we are begging them for now is, you know human life is very important; in fact, it’s very key.

“If you can do something, in fact, if you can take us back to the insecurity you met on board that will be tolerable to a large extent to say well he has taken us back to (former President Goodluck) Jonathan’s standard we are crying about. I mean the killings at that time; the statistics are there to speak for themselves.

“So really as far as I am concerned, it’s unfortunate we have these kinds of people ruling us by this time.”

Some weeks ago, concerned Nigerians staged a protest against rising insecurity in the North and other parts of the country, in Abuja.

For their campaign, the protesters used the hashtags: #SaveTheNorth; #NorthernLivesMatter; #NorthIsBleeding; #SecureOurLives; #EnoughIsEniugh; and #NoMoreBloodShed.

The protesters lambasted President Buhari for his incompetence and failure to curb the senseless killings going on in the country.

The protesters said they were agitated by the recent escalation of attacks and killings across Northern Nigerian communities, cities, towns and highways, adding that the situation has put the region at the mercy of bandits.

They lamented the gruesome killing of over 40 bus passengers at Gidan Bawa village in Sokoto State where bandits blocked the road and set the vehicle ablaze and occupants ablaze.
