Daily Devotional 23rd February 2021: Ask, Seek and Knock

BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 7: 7-11 (NIV)

  1. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
  2. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
  3. “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
  4. Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
  5. If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! MESSAGE:
God loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son to save us from our sins. “Therefore, He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, How shall He not with Him freely give us all things.” (Rom. 8:32). God’s love for us is unfathomable. If evil men can give good things to their children, how much more shall our Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask Him?

The point is giving good things. Therefore, if what you are asking is not of God, He will not give it.

The promises of God are yea and Amen. He has promised He will never fail. Delay is not denial. The reason we do not get what we ask may not be far-fetched. Some things we ask for must be sought after. Seeking is stronger than mere asking. You seek for things that are not easily attainable, that are lost or can’t be found. Knocking is a greater level of receiving from God. If the door is not open to you, it shows dispproval and you may not receive what you are asking for. When doors are shut on people, access will be difficult. It is true that before we ask, God already knows our needs; He still wants us to ask, to show commitment, so that it wil not be like the proverbial ‘casting of pearls to swine.’ Ask, seek and knock today!

PRAYER:
Oh Lord, grant us open heavens in Jesus Name. Amen.

Daily Fountain Quote of the Day

“Through You we will push down our enemies; through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, nor shall my sword save me. But You have saved us from our enemies, and have put to shame those who hated us. In God we boast all day long, and praise Your name forever.” (Psalm 44:5)

Daily Devotional Febuary 21th 2021: The Gift Of Grace.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
Grace is a teacher and it will not just teach but also empower you to do things. Sometimes people misunderstand what grace is all about. It is God that gave grace for salvation. The grace of God always empowers the believer to live for God; it is not a license to live a life of sin. No! If you are living a life of sin and saying that “after all it’s by grace that we are saved.” Then we may even question whether you are saved at all because in the Bible, all those who experienced and encountered the Grace of God had their lives changed.

In John Chapter 4, grace reached out to that woman of Samaria. The woman wondered why Jesus, a Jew, should be asking her, a Samaritan for water that she did not qualify for. Eventually Grace reached out to her and after encountering Grace, she immediately went back to the city and told them to come and see a man- a real man who had told her everything about her life. All the men in the city took advantage of her but Jesus redefined her, gave her focus and put her on the pathway to destiny. She received grace and her life was changed completely.

In John Chapter 8, Jesus spoke for the woman caught in adultery and when He lifted up His head, all her accusers were gone. Then Jesus asked her “where are your accusers?” She answered that they were all gone! Jesus said, “neither do I condemn you.” She received a gift of no condemnation. Then He said, “now that you have received this gift, go and sin no more.” You can go because this is a gift of grace that has already come upon your life. So, go and live a life free of sin and love God with all your heart. May the Grace of God speak for you in every area of your life.

Republic Of Benin Is Not Aspiring To Be Part Of Nigeria- Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Abuja

The attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been drawn to misleading reports in the media that the Republic of Benin is aspiring to be the 37 State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama in the presence of his counterpart from the Republic of Benin granted a Press Interview after a very fruitful meeting between Ministerial delegations from both countries and stated therein “… the President of Benin Republic said he would like the relations between the two countries to be so close as if Benin was the 37th State of Nigeria”.

The Federal Republic of Nigeria has no territorial ambition and has never aspired to make Benin or any country as part of Nigeria.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs was therefore quoted out of context and the general public should kindly disregard the wrong information.

Daily Devotional 20th February 2021: Worry Is A Killer

BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 6: 25-34

  1. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?
  2. Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
  3. Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
  4. “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin.
  5. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendour was dressed like one of these.
  6. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
  7. So do not worry, saying,What shall we eat?' orWhat shall we drink?’ or`What shall we wear?’
  8. For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
  9. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
  10. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. MESSAGE:
The average man has a lot of issues facing him daily: From his immediate and extended families, church, work-place, daily events, etc. Each of these attracts his attention and requires his time, energy and resources. Therefore the tendency to worry is natural. However the Lord Jesus said, “Take no thought for tomorrow (v.34). He said we should not worry about mundane things of life like food and clothing. God who cares for the lilies and beautifies the grasses which can be cut down at will, cares for us.

“For your Father knows the things you need of before you ask Him” (Matt. 6:8). God cares! What are you worrying about? The Corona virus was ravaging the world and putting everyone into fear and confusion as this was being written. Cast your cares upon the Lord, He cares for you. Reflect on the Word of God. Sing spiritual songs. These and others are food for the soul and mind. Philippians 4:8 enjoins us on what to meditate on: Things that are noble, just, pure, lovely and of good report. By worrying, you cannot add a single hair to your head. Jesus asked us to seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and all these things we worry about shall be added to us (Matt. 6:33). Can you trust Christ enough with your problems?

PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, please help me to seek first the kingdom of heaven so that my worries will vanish.

It’s Obvious That Nigeria is Facing Crisis- Bola Ameed Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has called for peace among all ethnic, tribal and religious groups in Nigeria.

Tinubu made the call on Friday, during the Eighth-Day Fidau Prayer for the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande, the first Civilian Governor of Lagos State.

He said that the country was facing a crisis but all needed to live in harmony and give peace a chance.

”Nigeria is currently facing a crisis; a crisis of insurgency, banditry in all aspects of security, but God Almighty that made this country as one of the largest and most resourceful countries will protect us.

”I appeal, in his memory today, for us not to turn whatever challenges we are facing right now into ethnic, tribal and religious crises.

”If there is a crisis, where do we go? We will submerge entire West Africa, there will be no enough space to accommodate us.

”Those who have seen the effect of war, the effect of tribal conflict, of religious conflict, will never want it for Nigeria.

“We pray to God to strengthen our mind, guide our faith, put peace and bring peace unto this land, may Allah bless all of us,” Tinubu said.

He said that the clerics were very critical in the present situation, urging them for their prayers, commitment, fasting, all the sermons geared toward peace and stability in the country.

According to him, the death of the first civilian governor, Jakande is not just a loss to the family, but Lagos in general.

Tinubu said that Lagos and Nigeria at large were lucky to have a man like Alhaji Lateef Jakande, drawing from his wealth of knowledge.

”Today, he is no more but he is still existing to the eternity, we pray for Lagos State, we pray for Nigeria to give us more people, more leaders that are prudent, honest, that give priority to the world in the future,” he said.
