Father says his late son, Taiwo Has Been the family’s Only Hope Since 2019

Mr. Asaniyi Rufus, father of the late Asaniyi Taiwo, pilot of the military plane that crashed last week has said that only God can console his family and appealed to the government for help after the tragedy that occurred.

He shared this with journalists at his Ibadan residence on Monday while lamenting the death of his first male child. He said: “I struggled to ensure that my children have the best. I did farming for 32 years to support my teaching job, just to ensure that my children have the best of education.”

“Since my retirement in 2019, Taiwo has been the one sustaining my family. All the responsibilities of the family had been on his shoulder, being the first male child. “He was a blessing to us and our extended family. I had thought that the chain of hardship had been broken, but God took him away.”

“I want to appeal to the government to please help me find jobs for them because God has taken my beloved Taiwo away,” he said, visibly upset.

The late pilot’s mother, Mrs. Rachael Asaniyi, also visibly upset, asked for the government’s assistance.

“My heartbeat has gone. It is only God who can console the family. “I am a teacher due for retirement in February 2022. Taiwo was my son and my friend. I don’t know what to say or do now, but I have put everything in the hands of God,” she said, trying and failing to hold back the tears.

“Unknown Gun Men Are Not Igbos” Uzodimma

According to Governor Hope Uzodimma, the unknown gunmen arrested by the police and currently undergoing questioning over violent attacks perpetrated by the so-called unknown gunmen, are non-Igbo criminals. The governor revealed that these criminal elements were apparently hired and imported into Imo State and other parts of the Southeast to disturb the peace of the State and disrupt economic activities in the State.
He however stopped short of naming or classifying those behind the hiring of these criminal elements.

This revelation, coming from no less a person than the chief security officer of the State has gone a long way to dispel the belief in many quarters that the ongoing security operations across the Southeast meant to smoke out these hoodlums is targeted against Igbo youths.

We should rather be thankful to the security operatives for helping to rid Igbo land of these terrorists who have in the past few months desecrated our land by spilling the blood of many innocent people, destroyed properties worth billions of Naira and cost us billions of Naira in capital flight. I believe that no reasonable Igbo man would take any action that would hurt his investments and disrupt his business, therefore, the governor’s claim that most of these hoodlums are not Igbos is plausible.

Already, reports from security agencies from across the Southeast are encouraging. In Anambra yesterday, the hoodlums who attempted to set INEC office ablaze suffered heavy casualties as the police successfully repelled them and these attacks are becoming less frequent. We should support security operatives to quickly rid our land of these foreign elements who are hell-bent on setting Igbo land ablaze.

Miyetti Allah’s President Preaches One Nigeria, Vows To Marry An Igbo Girl From Enugu.

National President of one of the umbrella bodies of herdsmen, the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo has said he is about going to marry an Igbo girl from Enugu State and become an in-law to Igbo.

Bodejo disclosed this in an interview with a National daily, the Sun.

According to him, his firm belief in the country’s unity influenced his decision.

He also disclosed that his aunt was happily married to a Rivers State man, adding that the union is blessed with ten children, including Kate, Ndidi and Kingsley, amongst others.

His firm belief in Nigeria’s unity, he said was threatened by such directives as issued by Southern Governors banning open grazing in the region.

According to him, such negates the spirit of the constitution as envisaged by the country’s founding fathers, including Zik, Awo, Ahmadu Bello, etc.

He reiterated his position that the Fulani were not constrained by boundaries or borders and urged herdsmen to ignore the directive by the Governors and graze their cattle in any part of the country they find themselves.
