The world is a stage and humans are merely actors in the function of time by Mikel Akpan

SATIRE: Abba Kyari!

Abba Kyari’s passage to the great beyond is a “sad and painful” death to Nigerians.

He was a dependable ally of President Buhari- and largely seen as the “defacto President”. His presence in Aso Rock and politics of Nigeria since 2015, loomed large in the scheme of things; howbeit, behind the scene. He orchestrated the “overwhelming” re-election of President Buhari in 2019 and the fierce legal defence of the President’s electoral mandate in the Supreme Court.

He was a consummate technocrat, astute administrator and politician. Since he assumed office in Aso Rock as the Chief of Staff to the President, he CHANGED the lives of average Nigerians and indeed, made real all the promises of the President.

He influenced a lot of policy formulations and implementations that led to the transformation of our economy, created 20m jobs, eradicated corruptions and improved our health sectors.

Particularly, his selfless service to the country saw him led a team to Germany to negotiate a deal for Nigeria’s power sector(that would make Nigeria’s power sector the darling of the world)- where it was reported that he contracted #COVID-19 while he was active duty.

He tested positive to #COVID-19, was isolated for necessary medical treatment. As a passionate public servant, he wrote to Nigerians from his sick bed, with the assurance that he was recuperating and would return to work soon.

Sadly, he passed on at one of the best hospitals he has led this administration to build for Nigeria.

RIP Sir, your memory lives on. 💔

No licence has been issued for 5G in Nigeria- Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami

The attention of my office has been drawn to the public concern about the health implications of the deployment of Fifth Generation Mobile Networks (5G) in Nigeria. Based on available records at my office and the earlier report received from the regulator, I would like to clarify as follows:

i. The National Frequency Management Council (NFMC), of which I am the Chairman, has not deliberated on or released any bulk frequency spectrum for the deployment of 5G;

ii. No license has been issued for the deployment of 5G in the country;

iii. A 3-month study trial commenced on the 25th of November, 2019 in order to critically review and study the health and security implications of deploying 5G in Nigeria;
iiii. As part of the study trial process, I directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to ensure that a team of experts, security agencies and other stakeholders fully participate in the trial process and my office also invited these agencies to participate in the trial; and

v. The trial process has been concluded and the study and reporting process is currently ongoing.

His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, places a premium on the welfare, health and security of Nigerians. As such, our desire for technological advancement will never be at the expense of the health and welfare of our citizens.

Government will not act on the speculations only, but rather we will take an informed decision on 5G after due consultation with experts and the public. I have also directed the NCC to engage citizens on any questions or concerns they may have regarding 5G.

Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami

I wish to thank the general public for reaching out to us on this issue. We advise you all to remain rest assured that government will always take the welfare, health and security of the public into account while considering the deployment of any technology.

Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami
Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy

Emir Sanusi: You can’t eat your cake and have it.

EMIR SANUSI’S TRIBULATION: YOU CAN’T HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO

A gold fish needs no introduction and advertisement. Even the dullest amongst us would agree that the dethroned EMIR Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is one of the most beautiful and refined icons to have emerged from the northern part of Nigeria in the last 2- 3 decades. A highly cerebral and polemic man inbuilt with high intellect , sagacity and indeed a distinct economist .

Right from his time at the First Bank , The CBN and through to his enthronement as the Emir and the 2nd in command to the Sultan of Sokoto in the emirate cadre , he has shown he’s not a man to be cowed and subdued in the face of fascism . He stood for whatever he believed in without trepidation , fear of rejection and denouncement .

“You can suspend a man but you can never suspend the truth”. The words ascribed to him showed a lot about his biological make up . Speaking truth to power regardless of whose Ox is gored is in his DNA , and I doubt if he would change in the foreseeable future regardless of his present travails .

To the meat of this piece . Every man, no matter how highly placed, belonging to a society is expected to operate within some rules and norms, either written or unwritten . This is so even before the pre colonial era. The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria dictates and indicates the functions expected of the “rulers” , from the president and to the ward’s Councillor and to the “ruled” , the citizenry.

The role of traditional ruler , though not specified in the constitution demands the occupier to be apolitical . They aren’t meant to support a party , group or individual above another . Being a father to all and sundry should be their watch word irrespective of religion affiliation and political inclination . SLS failed in this regard by pitching his tent with Kwankwansiya group against “Gandoller” in the 2019 gubernatorial elections .

A traditional ruler is meant to listen more and speak less . He’s meant to correct abnormalities or ills in the society by diplomacy and dialogue. And not through public outcry, castigation and criticism . Virtually all the northern elites and politicians had been touched directly or indirectly by the vitriol, venoms and fangs of the deposed Emir. Even the acclaimed man of integrity , General Muhammadu Buhari whose popularity is fast fading out wasn’t spared of his fangs . One would think SLS with his status who could knock at any door could have reached out to him .

The lesson in this unnecessary and avoidable saga for everyone is to know that indeed power is transient . Just like life itself, it is ephemeral. Buhari, Ganduje and the powers that be today would be there only for a limited time . Posterity will remember everyone of us and our deeds. I am sure SLS has leant his lessons albeit, the hard way . Everyone including the Northerners, Southerners , Muslims, Christians, the young and old should rally round him in his travails and tribulations . For his character and brain is still very much needed in our political and public firmament .

Those that put Buhari in power are the ones crying over the removal of Former Emir of Kano- Femi Fani-Kayode.

Those that put Buhari in power in 2015 are mostly the ones crying over Sanusi Lamido Sanusi’s removal as Emir of Kano.

Sanusi supported Buhari and applauded him when he persecuted those of us that opposed his candidacy in 2015.

Why should he lament now and not continue the applause? Is Buhari no longer his Messiah?

And to those of you from the south who excitedly pronounce in whispering tones that Sanusi will be the PDP or APC presidential candidate in 2023 I say this: your suffering under Buhari will pale into insignificance and appear like a joyous and pleasurable summer holiday when compared to what will happen to you if Sanusi, the master of taqquiya, ever becomes President of Nigeria.

It is at that point that you will know the meaning of hell on earth and enjoy the full brunt of northern hegemonist power. Simply put, in Sanusi, you don’t know who and what you are dealing with and you will never know until it is too late.

Once again, just like in 2015, you have been fooled and scammed and another monster is gradually being groomed and packaged as a Messiah for the nation.

Sadly many southerners are buying into it. How gullible, weak and pitiful they are!

Is it because Gideon Akaluka was only a poor man and a Christian that no-one gives a damn about who cut off his head? Is it because he came from the “wrong” part of the country?

Is that why the whole thing is still being brushed under the carpet as if he was not a human being with dreams and aspirations like everyone else?

And regardless of where he came from or what his religious faith was did he not have a right to life?

Are we as a nation and a people under a spell or have we been cursed?

May God judge Nigeria for her insensitivity and her love for bloodthirsty and bloodlusting monsters who delight in deceit, violence, wickedness and injustice.

Former Emir of Kano Lamido Sanusi speaks on his deposition.

“With almost six years on this throne and (in charge of) our heritage, today, the almighty Allah, who gave me the leadership has destined to take it back.

As I always say, leadership has predetermined tenure, the days Allah destined are numbered.”
When the days come to an end one must leave.

We have accepted whatever Allah decides. We have agreed. We appreciate (God). We are happy and we know it is what is best for us.

Former Emir of Kano, Sanusi

We enjoin everyone to remain peaceful. We have directed our family, our children and those that support us that whoever gets it and is endorsed by the people they should pay allegiance to him.

They should follow him. They should guard his honour and dignity because that is also the honour and dignity of this palace.

It is a thing of pride that made us to rule and end in the same fashion as Halifa.”

Read Lamido Sanusi speech after his dethronement

SLS on dethronment..

“The throne of an emir is not permanent, every king and leader should know this.

If it was a permanent throne,I wouldn’t have been the emir of Kano.

Before I came someone was emir and before him someone else was there.

Whenever God says your time on the throne is over,if you don’t leave with your legs, people will carry your body out of the palace.

It is God that gives power and it is God that takes power”
