John Okafor better known as Mr. Ibu, a Veteran Nigerian actor, has said that he became cautious and doubtful of people’s intentions after being poisoned.
The comic star had narrated on several occasions how he was poisoned in the past by persons close to him.
He made this statement in an interview with The Punch published on Sunday, August 21, Ibu said he is now mindful of new faces around him, considering that it was done by someone he helped.
The actor said; “These days, I am usually skeptical because I later found out that it was somebody I had helped in the past (who poisoned me).”
He further revealed that he is still undergoing treatment in Abuja because there are still some remnants of the poison in his system.
“If not for God, the result would have been bad. As I speak with you now, I am still being treated somewhere in Guzape, Abuja,” he added.
Speaking further, the movie star urged the government to do more in terms of ensuring the safety and security of filmmakers.
He said, “I expect the Federal Government to act on this. Whether we like it or not, we (actors) are serving the government. The movies we make are for the benefit of the general public. If the government wants to better protect us, they can do it.”
Meanwhile, a funny video that circulated recently showed the legendary actor getting a stylish haircut.
The comic star created some humor in the barbing saloon while interacting with other customers. Mr. Ibu went with his daughter who made sure to capture the rare moment on camera.
When the barber was almost done cutting the actor’s hair, he made some complimentary remarks to which the movie star responded.
The barber mentioned how the Nollywood star looked much younger than his age, but the compliment didn’t go down well with the comedian.
But it was not a serious matter as Mr. Ibu was quick to shut the barber down and stated that he he is okay with looking fresh but not younger than he is.

I am reliably informed that the wards chairmen of Mubi North and Mubi South are dubiously invited to Yola for a “party program” but the real issue is to have a press conference SUSPENDING me from APC for my stand against the insensitive SAME FAITH TICKET of my party.
I am told that the masquerade from Borno is being scammed of millions of Naira by few jobless people who promised him that they will expel me from APC. DESPERATION is reaching its crescendo.
My ward Chairman and the entire ward executives of Muchalla have excused themselves from the circus.
Let me kindly and gently warn you to thread with caution as the lying and deceptive MASQUERADE sponsoring this charade won’t enjoy the naked dance in the market square once I go into personal attack on his person.
You can silent others but not me. I promise You will not enjoy one second of it.

Popular Nigerian fashion Designer Toyin Lawani details fans on the trauma she had when she was small.
She revealed on how she was raped and impregnated by her Uncle when she was 15 years old.
The celebrity revealed this during her interview with Chude Jideonwo a media personality.
She revealed that her mother was always busy and doesn’t make time for her.
In her words;
“I never told anybody this before, I don’t think I have told my husband. At 15, I got raped by someone in my neighborhood, I have told my husband about the rape before, it was one of my uncle.
I couldn’t tell my mum, it was so bad for me when somebody bullies you to the extent that you can’t talk. It was so bad. I opened up to one of my aunties, she is late now, aunty Bola, and she took me to Ibadan they tried to get rid of the pregnancy.
It was at the same time I had to go get my admission in Uni and my mum, my mum is late – my dad is late, so don’t want to break down, so I can’t talk about it.
They had to take me to a hospital in Ibadan, the pregnancy was about 5 months cause I didn’t tell anyone and it was so hard for me I went to get my admission and I fainted at the premises. The doctor opened up to her that I was pregnant and they had to take it out.
She couldn’t take it because I was so young and I didn’t tell her all this because the person was close.
That’s why I am very strict with my kids. I felt I had lost my innocence to someone in the same house as us.
My mum was always working. I hated my mum so much because she wasn’t there until now that I had to do the same responsibly for my kids. It traumatized me.” She said
Nollywood veteran, Pete Edochie has said presidential aspirants like the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC cannot be Nigerian president because they are too old.
Speaking with BBC Igbo, Edochie said the former Lagos State governor has been in power for a long time and should consider resigning.
The aged actor also decried the marginalisation of Southeasterners politically and their inability to produce a president since the country returned to democracy.
He said the Asiwaju of Lagos should leave power so that the youths who are healthier and are capable of moving the nation forward will take over.
He said, “Many people like Tinubu are too old and too weak to run for the presidency. He has been in power for a long time until he was made the leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
“But he should leave the position for those who are younger and healthier. Let’s be honest.
“Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba are the major ethnic groups in the country. Only once in the history of Nigeria has an Igbo person become the head of state in Nigeria.
“Why has power not returned to the Southeast people? Is there a plot by the political elites to sideline the South-East? I’ve lived in the North. I speak Hausa. But it’s long overdue for Nigeria to have a leader of Igbo extraction”.
