Anambra State Bans Wearing Of Mini-Length Uniforms In Schools

Anambra state has banned the wearing of mini-length uniforms in schools across the state.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma – Udeh made this known during an interactive meeting with Education Secretaries of public and mission schools held at ASUBEB hall, Awka.

The Commissioner condemned the growing trend of putting on mini-length uniforms in schools, saying it goes against the acceptable dress code for schools in the state.

Information Officer, Anambra State Ministry of Education

According to the Commissioner, a student should look smart, well-groomed, project positive values and not be indecently dressed for school.

She added that the acceptable length for uniforms in the state remains knee – length and not above -the – knee as is fast becoming the norm.

The Commissioner charged the Education Secretaries to ensure schools comply with the directive and salvage the future of students Anambra.

“You are the foundation. You control the formative years of the children”, Prof. Chuma-Udeh said.

“Let us infuse the right morals and discipline in students so they grow to be rational human beings, showing them there is more to life

If we fail to get it right at this stage, we have failed to protect the future of the children”, she concluded.

The Education Secretaries met with the Commissioner to discuss the way forward as the next academic session commences on the 19th of September, 2022.

Benue Government To Drag Herders’ Association, Miyetti Allah To International Criminal Court

The Benue State Government has said it would drag a Fulani socio-cultural group, Miyetti Allah, to the International Criminal Court, ICC over invasion and killings in the state by armed Fulani herdsmen.

This was made known by the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Michael Gusa, in Makurdi on Thursday, who noted that the carnage going on in the state had now got to a head.

He explained that it was incumbent on the government to take the action since from available records, the masterminds of the genocide in the state were already known by their victims “and our killers also know themselves.”

The Commissioner who noted a recent threat by the National Secretary-General of Miyetti Allah, Alhaji Saleh Alhassan to drag Governor Samuel Ortom before the ICC said the threat was preemptive given their fear that the state government would take the group to the court.

The Attorney General said, “I think what they said was just to preempt what the Benue State Government would do to them because we recall that they have always come up to justify and own up to the killings in the state.

“So they are only saying that (about Ortom) to preempt what the Benue State is going to do. Recall that even when the attack and attempt on the life of Governor Ortom happened, they came in to accept responsibility – the Fulani Nationality Movement, FUNAM, claimed responsibility.

“So the entire genocide and ethnic cleansing that are going on in the state have been put on their door steps. We have records of their statements and all that is needed. “Recall that when the anti-open grazing law came into being in 2017, they came out to say that they would not obey the law.

And when the implementation started, they came on New Year’s Day and killed so many people in state.

“That massacre led to the mass burial that was conducted in the state in 2018. They came and claimed responsibility because they were protesting the implementation of that law.

“So we will approach the ICC over the matter because we know our killers, we know those who are perpetrating the killings in Benue State and our people deserve to get justice.”

2023: Keyamo, American Clash On Twitter Over Obi

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo and a retired American mental health counsellor, Dr Jeffrey Guterman, have been tackling each other over the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.

Keyamo, who also doubles as the Director of Media and Public Affairs and official spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council, had warned Guterman to stay out of Nigeria’s politics after he tweeted “Shame on you, #fkeyamo” when he (Keyamo) claimed that Obi, was playing the ethnic card to get votes in the coming election.

Responding to him on Tuesday, Keyamo said, “As a hired online mercenary without a Nigerian Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), may I suggest you stay away from our local politics? I am under restraint from professional bodies to which I belong, hence I have not descended on you with the worst expletives.” To which Guterman replied, “I will not stay away from Nigerian politics, Mr. Mugu #fkeyamo”

In fresh exchange between the duo on Wednesday, Keyamo quoted a tweet of Guterman asking for financial help and said, “My friend #JeffreyGuterman, you should have said this from the word go that you needed financial help, hence your interest in our internal affairs to attract some patronage from supporters here. I am sorry to hear about your financial needs and I wish you well. Goodluck.”

Dr Guterman retorted, “I am not your friend, Mr. Mugu #fkeyamo. But please continue replying to my tweets. You are helping me immensely with my financial problems by allowing me to live rent free in your empty head.”
