He is the son of the General Oversear of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye.

An Islamic cleric has advised Muslims in the country to desist from paying ransom to kidnappers.The cleric who is also the deputy chief Imam of the National Mosque, says paying ransom to criminals is not permitted in Islam .The cleric, Professor Ibrahim Maqari, is one of the well respected Islamic scholars in Nigeria.

An Islamic cleric and deputy chief Imam of the National Mosque, Abuja, Professor Ibrahim Maqari has said that Islam does not permit Muslims to pay money as ransom to enemies they are at war with. Professor Maqari made the comment at this year’s Ramadan tafsir monitored by Daily Nigerian on Monday, May 3 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“Since Allah has forbidden the payment of money to an enemy who is at war with you, in order not to empower them to continue to fight you, then contributing money as ransom for the release of kidnapped persons, is haram (prohibited).” The cleric further said applying the Islamic provisions can effectively address the challenges of kidnapping currently affecting society. He said: “But as long as people will continue to give a ransom to secure the release of their loved ones, the recipients of the money will continue to use it to acquire more arms that they will use to perpetrate their atrocity and promote it as a business.” He added that another implication of submitting to kidnappers’ demands is that the vice will grow and be hard for security agents to handle. He posited: “So the best way of stopping it is for the criminal to know that if he kidnaps someone, he can choose to chop his body into pieces but he will not get what he wants.”
He, therefore, advised Muslims that getting killed by kidnappers is a sure way of going to paradise.

Reverend Dr. Solomon Oyewale Oyeniyi the President Ogun Baptist Conference who speaks on behalf of South West Presidents said,

We are here today to encourage, comfort and empathize with our dear brethren in Kwara State.

we stand with you in this critical time and we are praying for you.

Not just our Baptist brothers and sisters who have been attacked, but other Christians who have suffered for the sake of the gospel in the weeks in Kwara State.

We cry with you, but we also demand justice, equity, and fairness from the state government and security agencies.

There is no gainsaying that Christian mission organizations, as far back as the mid 18 century, 1865 to be precise, have and are still playing significant roles in providing quality primary education in Nigeria. The evidence of this can be seen in the number of mission schools established
Within Nigeria-Kwara State inclusive.

Nigerians will recall that some Muslims attended our mission
schools and they were not forced to change their religion, people in that category served the nation

Worthy of note is the 1974 Education Law Edict of Kwara State signed by the then military administrator, Colonel Lasisi Bamigboye (Rtd) which categorically states and by interpretation, that the voluntary Agency Institutions (i.e the mission schools) are not taken over by the government but, only
the management of staff (the teachers) is the only thing the government of Kwara State is taken over.

Furthermore, the edict states that the proprietors still retain the right of ownership; names of schools remain
as given by the proprietors; religious orientation and practices in the school’s remain generally
undisturbed; the total tone of the institutions remains the responsibility of the Board of Governors of the
school as the main organ of the proprietors.

We have watched incredulously and painfully how some of our churches have been attacked and Some
of our brethren injured simply because they were asking for justice.

We saw each again on Monday, March 22,
how some churches were attacked even while their gates were firmly locked by throwing stones and
dangerous objects into their premises.

This shows that these are coordinated attacks on churches in Ilorin
and the issue at hand is beyond wearing hijabs in our schools. At least the schools were not opened that
day.

We pray that the Lord will comfort all Christians in Ilorin who have been attacked and still carry the
scars of such attacks. May the Lord heal you, may the Lord strengthen you, and may He answer us
speedily on this matter in Jesus’ name, amen.

We charge you to endure more as our victory is at hand,
the Lord will not fail us. Please be encouraged. We appreciate the leaders of Kwara State Baptist
The conference, the president and chairman, and the officers of the Christian Association of Nigeria has have
stood up bravely against arsonists and miscreants determined to destroy our heritage.

We charge us all not to give up and continue in the pursuit of justice and fairness.

One question we must ponder on is how come this is happening now? How did the past governments in
Does Kwara State manage to avert such upheaval? And that’s why we are calling on the Kwara State government to remember that its first duty is the protection of citizens’ lives and properties.

We ask the government not to forget that all lives matter irrespective of their faiths, we remind the government that
Christians too matter in this state and we deserve protection as well. Our properties like churches, schools, buses, and houses ought to be protected as we are taxpayers too. We are not just important during the election period but at all moments. Allowing thugs and miscreants to terrorize innocent citizens under the guise of enforcing hijab in our schools calls to question the duty of government in protecting all and sundry.

This should not be allowed to continue, our dear governor.

We also ask the government to toe the path of honor in allowing the rule of law to prevail. There’s a
matter in court over the hijab matter and one would have thought that the government will wait for its determination since the lower court ruled that the status quo should be maintained, we ask the government to respect this. If we all continue to disobey our courts which are legally empowered to interpret our
Constitution, there will be anarchy. This will not augur well for us all.

Nonetheless, we are making use of this opportunity to express our unreserved concern and t0 make
appeal to Kwara State government under the leadership of His Excellency Alhaji Abdulrahman
Abdulrazaq to make use of his political office:

.It is high time the Kwara State government started considering returning mission schools to the
original Owners as we have seen in Lagos and Ogun States, heaven will not fall as we built these schools originally.

As Baptists, we have shown in these two states that we have what it takes to
maintain and cater for our schools-staff and students, and we are willing to accept what belongs to
us originally.

2. To be unbiased in the discharge of orders as about the wearing of hijab in the mission school since the matter is still in Supreme Court with the state surely served by the Supreme
   Court and to allow the rule of law reign supreme as regards wearing of hijab in Christian mission
   schools.

3, For the interest of peace and an uninterrupted educational system, any Muslim parents who want their child or children to wear hijab compulsorily should honorably withdraw his/their child or children to Muslim established schools instead of causing mayhem in the mission schools.

4, To allow the Christian mission schools to operate by the provision of the 1974 Education Law Edict of Kwara State.

5. To facilitate educational policy that will engender and not endanger the peaceful coexistence in all educational facilities in the state.
6. To not politicize the issue of wearing hijab in Christian mission schools as these schools have the statutory uniforms expected for all pupils and students to wear each time they come to school.

7 To curb civil and religious societies irrespective of their religious affiliations from promoting campaigns to disrupting the peace and smooth operation of the mission schools and their immediate environments.

8. To mediate with fairness and justice between all concerned stakeholders to allow the pupils and students of these affected mission school are in jeopardy

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” Psalm 103:2 KJV

Some of us are good at classifying sin. “I didn’t commit adultery! I didn’t kill! I didn’t steal! I am good!” Who said so? Your goodness came from God’s goodness. If the Lord should take note of our sins, no one would stand. It is the forgiveness you received that makes you stand. It is the goodness of God that leads to repentance, not His anger. His anger is for a moment.

David was an outstanding worshipper who truly appreciated God’s goodness. No wonder he wrote the Psalms to extol God: “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1 KJV).

Why was David always praising and celebrating the goodness of God? He remembered all that the Lord had done on his behalf. He remembered that when Prophet Samuel came to his father’s house to anoint a king, even his parents did not recommend him. No one recommended him. They all abandoned him at the backside of the desert. No one believed in him. They said, “this one is not a king material.” But God overruled on his behalf and chose him. Thus, David never forgot the goodness of God. He was a powerhouse of praise.

In 2 Samuel 6, David brought back the Ark of God into Jerusalem with celebration. He was dancing for joy; not like some Christians who feel too dignified to praise and worship God. So, you put your hands in your pocket and watch others. But King David, with all the royal guards, chose to praise God extravagantly. He said: “why should I be ashamed of God when he is not ashamed of me? I know where he picked me from.”

David didn’t allow his blessings to get into his head. There is no way you will remember all that God has done for you without praising him at all time. This is why the Psalmist says, “forget not all His benefits.” Don’t get so blessed that you are no more humble.

Daily Devotional 18Th Of March, 2021: What You Carry Is For People.

“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save many people alive. Now, therefore, fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.” Genesis 50:20-21 KJV

Joseph’s brethren went and fell down before his face and said: “Behold we are your servants.” The dream became fulfilled! And Joseph told them, “fear not, am I in the place of God?” In other words, it is God that did it, not me. Believers today need to understand this. Let’s not be too braggadocious. That you are beautiful is not because you used perfume or applied makeup. It is God who crafted you.

Do you look at yourself in the mirror and thank God for the way He has made you? Even if you’re short, thank him for the way He has made you. No matter your features, whether dark complexion or big lips, thank God because there is a reason He crafted you that way.

Joseph said I am not God! “But as for you, you thought evil against me, but God meant it unto good to bring to pass as it is this day, to save many people alive” (Genesis 50:20). In other words, what He did for me was not really for me, but for people. What you carry is not of any good if it is not dispensed. God has anointed me to preach. Of what good is the anointing, if I refuse to preach? What you carry is for people, not for you. The money you have is for people, not for you. The money you have is for the expansion and the enlargement of the kingdom.

The question is: whose life are you affecting positively? Why are you waiting for someone to beg you before you serve? Why are you making all the excuses? Always remember what the Lord did for you. If God marks your mess, can you stand? We are all products of mercy and grace.

“Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh”. Genesis 41:14 KJV

According to Winston Churchill, greatness is in failing and failing and failing and yet having a brutal audacity and refusing to quit. It looks as if everything is lost, yet you have an audacity that says: “If I am going to fall, I will fall standing.” A brutal and a holy audacity while standing – that is the attitude that a child of God should have. They put Joseph in prison and then they had to beg him to come out. Some people cannot experience elevation because they have refused to interpret the dreams that will bring them out of prison. They are bitter with everyone. You refused because you don’t understand relationship – that your lifting is connected to somebody.

Child of God, attitude is everything; not your qualification! Today, even the marketplace has discovered that apart from your qualification, expertise, skill and other things, attitude is key. You can have all it takes but if you can’t work with people, no one wants to hire you because you will destroy the work. Even in the face of difficulties, Joseph maintained the right attitude. He served Potiphar. He could have been bitter but he chose to serve. He served in every quarter he found himself until he got to the palace where Pharaoh appointed him as ruler. Pharaoh was just sitting on the throne but the real person ruling was Joseph; at his word, every person obeyed. He was respected! But when he was going down, it looked like he was a loser.

When he finally revealed himself to his brethren, he wasn’t boastful about it. He didn’t use his elevation as an opportunity for payback. Rather, he encouraged his brothers and gave them assurance. “Now, therefore, be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life” (Genesis 45:5 KJV).

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5. KJV

According to God’s word, while we yet sinners and without strength, Christ died for us. You didn’t qualify but He qualified you: “…And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him, that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father…” (Revelation 1:5-6 KJV).

Look at the progression: He has always loved you. He will always love you and will never stop. It is not predicated on what you did or not. God loves you just the way you are. He knows you in and out, your weakness and shortcomings; still, He loves you. When human beings know your weakness, when you make a mistake, they will stop loving you. But God’s love is unconditional. It never comes empty because He is favourably disposed to dispense only good. Hence, it is an abuse of redemption to expect bad in your life. No matter where you are right now, it can never be worst in your life.

The believer’s life is from glory to glory. It may not look as if many things have happened. Many times, God seems to be silent but then He is always working behind the scene. When your blessing is delayed, it is because it is a big blessing.

You will certainly sing a new song. “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou was slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood… And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth” (Revelation 5:9-10 KJV). He has made us all in His own responsibility! Why won’t I love him? How can I possibly payback for all His goodness?

Daily Devotional 13Th Of March 2021: God Is Not A Taker.

“…By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.” Genesis 22:16-18 KJV

God didn’t ask for Ishmael but Isaac, the one Abraham loved. Recall that Abraham had waited for Isaac for 25 years before the promise eventually manifested. Afterwards, God comes saying: ‘’bring him to me and sacrifice him to me on a mountain I will show you.’’ When Abraham saw the mountain afar off, he told the servants to wait behind. “…Abide ye here with the ass, and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you’’ (Genesis 22:5 KJV). Notice that Abraham said: “I and the lad will go yonder and worship…” He didn’t say to kill him. God is not a killer or a taker!

Whenever God demands something from you, it is in your best interest. I have seen that all through the scriptures. When your sacrifice becomes worship, God will show you who He is. When Abraham lifted his hand to kill his son, God showed up. He said: “I just wanted to know how much you love me. I wanted to know whether you prefer this gift than me the Giver! A lamb has already been provided.’’ That is what Jehovah ‘Jireh’ means.

Ever before you got to the mountain of obedience, God was already there on your behalf. The ram was caught in a thicket. Look at that! You know that rams fight with their horns. God was saying in effect, ‘’I have taken the fight out of your blessing.’’ You are not going to struggle to get it. No more fight! You are getting it released to you.
