Bukola Saraki speaks on the on-going Edo State election.

The on-going EdoDecides2020 is getting to the crucial stages. I urge the good people of Edo State not to get carried away but to protect their votes.

The enthusiasm and patriotic conduct of the good people of Edo State must not be thwarted or subverted by any official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), either permanent or ad-hoc; or any security personnel, no matter the rank.

Nigeria’s glory is more important than the huge ego of politicians. And so INEC and security agencies must work to protect Nigeria’s image and not to satisfy the whims and caprices of some power hungry politicians.

Make Edo Election a model; Governor Wake urges Buhari.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to use the Edo State Governorship election to create hope in the electoral process.

Governor Wike is also the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Campaign Council for the Edo election made the appeal during a Live Television Programme in Port Harcourt.

He stated that the outcome of the election would provide hope for the general elections of 2023.

“Let everyone that loves this country ensure that the September 19, 2020 election is credible, free and fair.

“The Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should show Nigerians that they can support credible elections.

“INEC should ensure that result sheets are not in the hands of individuals. Security Agencies should not whisk away collation officers and later bring them back with cooked results.

“Complete manipulation of the electoral process causes violence. No politician will cause violence if the Police and INEC do not compromise,” he stated.

Governor Wike said there would be a high turnout of voters on Saturday because the people of Edo State are prepared to put an end to godfatherism.

He stated that he carried out an independent assessment of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s achievements and is quite satisfied that he would win the election convincingly.

According to him, no amount of money or intimidation will make the people of the State not to vote massively for Governor Obaseki.

The Governor urged the people to be vigilant and protect their votes because enemies of the State are hovering to truncate their will.

“The agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is to win at all cost for us to go to the tribunal. That is why Edo people must be vigilant.

“I must commend the United States and the United Kingdom for the Visa ban placed on election riggers in the country.

“They should go ahead and publish their names so that a lot of things will change in our electoral process.

“Election rigging is worse than armed robbery. So whatever sanctions that can be imposed will be highly welcomed by the PDP, ” he added.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu Can’t Determine Edo Peoples Choice – Oyegun

The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie Oyegun has noted that the National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, can not determine the outcome of the governorship election in Edo State as an outsider.

The former Governor of Lagos State had earlier called on voters in the state to vote against the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Godwin Obaseki.

Tinubu in his statement noted that the Edo State Governor is not a democrat and did not partake in the struggle for Nigeria’s democracy, t.fore he should be voted out in the Saturday governorship poll.

Oyegun while reacting to the statement called on the APC national leader to stop interfering in the political situation in the South-South state.

He also urged all political gladiators to ensure that the forthcoming governorship election is peaceful.

Oyegun also denied issuing a statement on the outcome of the gubernatorial election in Edo State, noting that his statements on the political situation in the state have been consistent.

He said: “I read with great consternation and disgust a statement purportedly issued by me on a so-called outcome of the gubernatorial election in Edo State.”

“First let me state emphatically that at no time did I issue any statement, verbally or written, on the fortunes of the APC, or any other party in the imminent election.”

“The said statement which is making rounds in social media could only have originated from sick minds and desperate persons of criminal orientation. My views and statements on the Edo State political situation have been consistent.”

I strongly advised against the mistreatment of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki by the late unlamented National Working Committee, (NWC), of the APC and his subsequent forced exit from the APC. Governor Obaseki stood bravely for the dignity and pride of his people and in the process suffered unacceptable indignities.

In the matter of who governs Edo State, the people are sovereign and no individual or group, whatever their status, can decide on their behalf. I stand with the people of Edo State and urge them to come out massively to exercise their democratic right! They should vote for good governance, common decency, principled leadership, especially in the political arena and the protection of their vital democratic rights. They should by their votes, make clear that it is their right to choose their Governor and nobody else! T. is no room for fence sitters.

“This is a special situation and primitive loyalties should and must be set aside. Remember Mr President’s admonition in an equally challenging pre-election situation in Imo State. “Vote your conscience”.

There will be peace on Saturday. Come out and vote your conscience.

China can’t take over Nigeria sovereignty- Femi Fani-Kayode

People say China will take over Nigeria’s sovereignty if we fail to pay back their loans. China has denied this but even if they wanted to do so it can NEVER happen. Seizing assets for non-repayment of loans is one thing but taking over a nation’s sovereignty is quite another.

You cannot take over another country’s sovereignty without a war. They would have to kill us all first before they can take over our nations sovereignty and independence. They would have to come here, conquer us by the force of arms, pull down our flag and hoist theirs over our territory.

I repeat this will NEVER happen. We may not have their wealth, strength, technology or military fire power but we have GOD and those of us that are decent & patriotic enough would DIE fighting for our nation, our dignity, our self-respect, our people and our motherland.

No nation can take over another’s sovereignty without a fight, no lion can take over another’s territory and pride without a bitter and ferocious struggle and no man can take over another’s house or home without a bloody and cataclysmic conflict.

We may not be perfect and we may have many problems as a people but we must never forget that we are still a nation of 200 million citizens who are bold, resilient, strong-willed and irrepressible. No nation, no matter how big or powerful, can intimidate us. We are far too big for that.

I am not a supporter of the taking of loans from China and I have always opposed it. I have consistently called on the Buhari administration to stop taking such loans and the fact that they went ahead and did so on several occasions is disturbing and unacceptable. However that does not mean that our nation will lose her sovereignty if we fail to pay back.

No matter what Nigeria will always be free and we will NEVER lose our sovereignty to a foreign power. Let the whole world burn to cinders and ashes first!
