Police operatives attached to the Intelligence Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested three (3) suspects namely; Johnson Emmanuel – 38yrs, Gideon Emmanuel – 31yrs and Success Emmanuel – 27yrs for the kidnap and gruesome murder of one Mrs Janet Nnenna Ogbonnaya on 14th May, 2020. The suspects, born by same parents, all male and native of Isiekenesi, Ideato LGA of Imo State were arrested by the Police in their home town where they had taken refuge after committing the crime in Abuja, in order to evade police arrest.

Investigations that led to the arrest of the suspects is sequel to complaints received from one Chinedu Ogbonnaya who alleged that his mother, Mrs Janet Nnenna Ogbonnaya, 55yrs, native of Ozuitem in Bende LGA of Abia State had been kidnapped and a 5-Million naira ransom demanded before she could be released. A comprehensive and painstaking investigation by the police operatives resulted in the arrest of the three (3) suspects, whom, in the course of interrogation, revealed that the victim had long been murdered and buried. Further findings revealed that the victim, a widow, who had been a Facebook friend of the principal suspect – Johnson Emmanuel, was lured from her home in Gwagwalada to visit the suspect. The suspect thereafter took advantage of the visit, served her yoghurt laced with drugs and subsequently had her murdered. The suspect having killed the victim and buried her remains in a septic tank, went ahead to reach out to the family of the victim using her phone and demanded 5-Million naira ransom as pre-condition for her release.

Meanwhile, today 4th June, 2020, the suspects led a team of investigators alongside pathologists to a residence at Wumba District, Lokogoma, Abuja where the victim’s decomposing body was exhumed from a septic tank. The exhumed body has been taken to the University Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, Abuja for forensic examination.

A Toyota Highlander Jeep belonging to the deceased has also been recovered by Police operatives at a mechanic workshop in Apo where it had been repainted into a different colour, vehicle documents fraudulently changed and ownership of the stolen vehicle criminally transferred to one of the masterminds of the crime – Johnson Emmanuel.

Suspects

Investigations also revealed that the house where the deceased was killed and buried originally belonged to one of the suspects but was hurriedly sold-off to a third party apparently to obliterate evidence.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni, while commending the operatives for a job well done, reassures that perpetrators of any form of crimes in the country will not go undetected and unpunished. He however enjoins citizens to be more security conscious and report any suspicious activities within their neighbourhood to the nearest police station.

Justice for Barakat trends as 18-year-old is murdered at home in Ibadan

A young woman was murdered on Monday, June 1, in her home in Ibadan and Twitter users are calling for justice for her.

Read Olatunji’s post below

”Now, these times are not funny.
Bello Barakat has fallen too. A student of IAR&T Oluyole, Ìbàdàn. I gathered their home was attacked yesterday afternoon by supposed robbers who tried to finish on a romp.

Barakat resisted their attempt to rape her and she was stabbed to death. We hope and pray that the perpetrators of this evil will be fished out.

The girls are getting more endangered. The society must do something. I am not just worried because I am a father to 19 year old student too, but I am really concerned because girls and women deserve better. They deserve respect and protection from the society. They are not objects for use in carnality.

I think it is time to start a new campaign to mould the boy child. The new generation of boys seem to be posing much danger to the advocacies for the girl child over time.

Late Barakat

It is my earnest prayers that the killers of #Barakat and #Uwa and every unreported assaults and deaths be brought to justice.”

Autopsy determined that Glove death was caused by saasphyxia from sustained pressure on his neck.

Attorney Ben Crump, who represents the family of George Floyd, held a news conference Monday sharing the results of the separate autopsy the team had called for earlier in the week.

An additional autopsy was conducted after the family said that the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s findings “do not address in detail the effect of the purposeful use of force on Mr. Floyd’s neck and the extent of Mr. Floyd’s suffering at the hands of police.

“Attorney Crump said the autopsy determined that asphyxia from sustained pressure was the cause of death.”The ambulance was a hearse,” he said. “From all apparent evidence, George was dead at the scene.”

Let’s be honest there’s only so much a man can take on racism in United State of America

I never knew the full meaning of racism until I moved to the US. It’s in the body language, the gaze, the intentional omission, unfair treatment, just to name a few.

As a Nigerian living in the US I find myself in an emotional war as I constantly try to suppress all these acts of racism. But let’s be honest there’s only so much a man can take.

We live in an era where acts of systemic racism has eaten so deep that black lives mean nothing and can be taken at will. Thankfully, a handful of these inhumane acts are captured on camera. But for a moment think about those that were never captured and the amount of lives that have been lost. Alarming!!!

Minorities have suffered enough in a system that has been built to favor a certain sect. With each passing day the blood of the slain cry for justice. This should be our wake up call as human beings created in God’s image not to be silent anymore. Anger at this point is justifiable, and I pray that God grants us wisdom to take the right actions that will bring about the change the world needs right now.

To every life lost, I am sorry this land failed you. May the peace of God that passes all human understanding be with everyone grieving during these scary times.

If all these horror doesn’t worry you, then you are the problem. Let it be known that we will no longer be quiet and justice shall prevail. God bless us all. #blacklivesmatter

Trump orders investigation into George Floyd’s killing

United States President, Donald Trump, has ordered an investigation into the killing of a middle-aged black man, George Floyd.

He described Floyd’s death as “very sad and tragic” while commiserating with his family on the loss.

The President ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the US Department of Justice to expedite the probe, vowed that justice would be served on the matter.

“At my request, the FBI and the Department of Justice are already well into an investigation as to the very sad and tragic death in Minnesota of George Floyd.

“I have asked for this investigation to be expedited and greatly appreciate all of the work done by local law enforcement. My heart goes out to George’s family and friends. Justice will be served!” Trump tweeted.

Floyd died shortly after four police officers assaulted him in Minneapolis, a city in Minnesota.

One of the officers was seen in a video kneeling on his neck while he was handcuffed.

“Your knee in my neck. I can’t breathe… Mama. Mama,” Floyd pleaded, slowly grew silent and motionless, unable to move even as the officers taunted him to “get up and get in the car”.

He was taken to the hospital where he was later declared dead.

After dismissing the four officers involved, Minneapolis Mayor, Jacob Frey, expressed outrage as calls rose for them to be prosecuted for murder.

“What I saw was wrong at every level,” he said of the video.

“For five minutes, we watched as a white officer pressed his knee into the neck of a black man. Being black in America should not be a death sentence,” Frey added.

The family of the late Floyd has called for the prosecution of the four officers, stressing that they should be charged with murder.

The death of the black man sparked street protests in the Midwestern US city.

Protesters, many wearing face masks because of the coronavirus outbreak, held signs saying “Justice for George Floyd” and “Black Lives Matter” during a rally near the scene of Monday’s death in custody.

But beyond the US, blacks all over the world have been outraged by the inhumane treatment as they took to the Social Media to vent their angst over the killing of Floyd which many described as a shadow of racism.

Picture: Black man killed in USA by police

His name is George Floyd. A Minnesota grocery store called the police on him yesterday when they thought he was writing a bad check. He wasn’t.

MPD officer Derek Chauvin (badge #1087), along with two other officers, pinned him down to the hard pavement and stuck his kneel on George’s neck until he died, while officer Tou Thao (badge #7162) stood by and did NOTHING.

Minneapolis city mayor Jacob Frey just announced four officers have been fired. The FBI is investigating the incident. Over 19,000 people watched George as he died. He was screaming “I can’t breathe,” and asking for water, too. I don’t think there’s much to investigate.

He was murdered by the Minneapolis Police Department. Period.
