2023: Trouble for Lagos PDP as Bode George slams Jandor for picking Funke Akindele as running mate

Bode George, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, says Olajide Adediran, the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos, breached an agreement on running-mate selection.

Speaking on News Central, George said Adediran, better known as Jandor, flouted the agreement to make Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour his running mate — instead of Funke Akindele.

He said Adediran’s decision to pick Akindele, the actress, as running mate forced Rhodes-Vivour to join the Labour Party as its standard bearer for the Lagos governorship election.

“After their presentation here in my office, we saw that these were the best two we have (Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Adediran), and we asked him (Adediran) pointedly here, would you work with this man as your deputy, and he said, ‘yes sir,” he said.

“Haven’t paid for the price of the form, for us to have a seamless primary, would you take him to be your running, mate, he answered ‘yes sir”

“After that, he came to me to say his mentor, Denrele Ogunsayan asked him to choose a deputy from Ikorodu, a woman. I told him why didn’t tell me at the time. I’m saying this now for history because that was what transpired. I have heard rumours that I am the one sponsoring Gbadebo.

“He (Adediran) reneged on the agreement. I had to call Gbadebo’s father to tell him that this is getting a bit too dangerous. We as leaders did our utmost to ensure that we have a very seamless primary.”

2023: Keyamo, American Clash On Twitter Over Obi

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo and a retired American mental health counsellor, Dr Jeffrey Guterman, have been tackling each other over the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.

Keyamo, who also doubles as the Director of Media and Public Affairs and official spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council, had warned Guterman to stay out of Nigeria’s politics after he tweeted “Shame on you, #fkeyamo” when he (Keyamo) claimed that Obi, was playing the ethnic card to get votes in the coming election.

Responding to him on Tuesday, Keyamo said, “As a hired online mercenary without a Nigerian Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), may I suggest you stay away from our local politics? I am under restraint from professional bodies to which I belong, hence I have not descended on you with the worst expletives.” To which Guterman replied, “I will not stay away from Nigerian politics, Mr. Mugu #fkeyamo”

In fresh exchange between the duo on Wednesday, Keyamo quoted a tweet of Guterman asking for financial help and said, “My friend #JeffreyGuterman, you should have said this from the word go that you needed financial help, hence your interest in our internal affairs to attract some patronage from supporters here. I am sorry to hear about your financial needs and I wish you well. Goodluck.”

Dr Guterman retorted, “I am not your friend, Mr. Mugu #fkeyamo. But please continue replying to my tweets. You are helping me immensely with my financial problems by allowing me to live rent free in your empty head.”

Any Nigerian who lives abroad, funding the campaign of Peter Obi shall be arrested. It is against our electoral laws” — Abubakar Malami SAN

“One thing Nigerians who based abroad failed to understand is that they cannot stay there and detect to us how to govern our country. Someone will seat in United States of America and be telling us what to do and what not to do as if we don’t know what we are doing in this country.

“If you violate the electoral law, you will face the penalty squarely and we will do everything within our power to prosecute both you and the candidate you are funding his campaign.

“We’ve received a signal that some individuals, mostly Nigerians living abroad have taken it upon themselves to fund the campaign of Mr Peter Obi who’s the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the forthcoming Presidential election.

“What these individuals failed to understand is that Nigerian is a democratic nation governed by democratic rules and regulations. It is against the electoral act for those living abroad to sponsor any candidate in an election. Those involved should desist from such act or have us to contend with. We will resist it by all means. Such fund cannot enter Nigeria. Although we have put measures on ground to apprehend those who will get themselves involved in such an act.”

After 2023 Election Results, PDP Will Cry Like Babies – Wike Replies Ayu

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike has threatened to help the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, lolse the 2023 presidential election.

The governor issued the threat at the commissioning of the internal road in Omerelu community in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers on Thursday.

The governor who was responding to recent comments by the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu said the chairman is exhibiting arrogance.

He said “Doctor Ayu said we are children. Yes, the children brought you from the gutter to make you chairman.

“Now we have seen that you don’t want the party to win election, we will help you.

“These children you said we are, that brought you from nothing.

“Ayu, you said you founded this party, but you left the party in 2007. You founded a company, you left the company, people stood and brought out the company to what it is today, you have no moral right to still come and claim that you founded that company, you left with your shares.

“You want to show integrity, you want to show a party to Nigeria that we want to take over, you must convince Nigerians that we have the integrity.

“You are the driver that will drive the vehicle to convey us to go our destination. That is the victory we are looking for.

“If the driver has no integrity and cannot show honesty, how do you convince Nigerians?

“If you tell Nigerians something and cannot do it, is it when you enter into power that you will do it?

“Nigerians have seen how ungrateful some of you can be, and that’s why Nigerians also want to be careful, if we give these people power, are you sure they will also be grateful to Nigerians.

ASUU Strike Is Politically Motivated To Stop Tinubu In 2023 – Drainage Adviser, Igbokwe

Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, on Tuesday said that the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), “is politically motivated”.

Earlier we reported that ASUU on Monday extended its ongoing strike.

ASUU had been on strike since February 14, and despite the federal government saying it had taken all possible steps to end the industrial action, universities students in Nigeria are still at home.

“It is now absolutely clear that ASUU strike is politically motivated,” Igbokwe, the Special Adviser for Drainage and Water Resources to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, wrote on his known Facebook page.

“It is now obvious that they are working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“There are deliberate dubious attempts to stop APC, but they will fail”

Peter Obi might not be a good man, but he has plan for Nigerians- Pastor Yinka Yusuf

Someone called me yesterday and asked me; “Pastor, why are you supporting Peter Obi? He’s not from your place.” And I asked, where’s my place? He said again, “He’s not a perfect man.” And I responded; I’m not voting a pastor, even pastors are not perfect.

We have tried perfect people before and they failed us. I’m supporting him because he told me that my children will go to school. These people don’t care whether we go to school or not. Peter Obi is not a good man, but he has good plans.

Tinubu has introduced two vocabularies to Yoruba dictionary – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Thursday shared a joke on the visit of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Tinubu visited the ex-president in the latter’s penthouse inside the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, on Wednesday, accompanied by two former governors of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Otunba Gbenga Daniel, billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, and pioneer national chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande, among others.

The duo refused to address the media after the meeting.

Obasanjo, who spoke at the inauguration of a 300-man planning committee on the installation of the new Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Matemilola, said he told Tinubu that he had added two phrases to Yoruba vocabularies.

He said: “We have two vocabularies in the Yoruba dictionary, ‘Emilokan’ and ‘Olule’. These two vocabularies are now popularly used.

“I asked Bola and he laughed. I said whether the vocabularies are good or bad, we have started using them.”
